OUR Story
Christ Community Church (CCC) began as a house church in the autumn of 2013. Under the leadership of Jonathan Swift (DMin), CCC launched its first service on Palm Sunday 2014 at Henry Ford Village Senior Community. Jonathan and his wife Christie were serving as church planters in Lebanon when the Lord called them back to Jonathan's hometown of Dearborn, Michigan. Partnering with their home church, Faith Bible Church in Livonia (now Fellowship Bible Church), they planted CCC with the purpose of gathering, growing, and being “God's people on God's mission for God's glory”.
Since its inception, CCC's aim has been to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Eph 4:12) and to reach people from a diversity of ethnic backgrounds and walks of life with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The city of Dearborn provides a rich opportunity to do just that. In addition to being the most densely-populated Muslim community in the United States, Dearborn boasts Henry Ford College, University of Michigan's Dearborn Campus, and Greenfield Village, all of which attract international visitors and residents.
In 2022, Jonathan Swift transitioned into full-time ministry with Word Partners to serve as Program Director for the Middle East and North Africa. In December of 2022 Aaron Bashore (MDiv) was voted in as Lead Pastor. Aaron and Jillian have served as missionaries for 20 years in South America, North Africa, and most recently in Frankfurt, Germany where they co-led a church plant and a church revitalization effort. The Bashore’s speak Spanish, Arabic (the North African dialect), and German and have a passion for making disciples of all nations and faithful preaching of the Word of God in the local church.
In January of 2023 CCC moved to Warrendale Community Church’s building to better accommodate growth. Together with the leadership of Warrendale Community Church, we believe that sharing this ample building space in Dearborn between our two churches will be: a catalyst for evangelism (John 13:35, 1 Cor. 14:25), for the edification of the believers (2 Cor. 8:13, Romans 14:19), and for the exaltation of God (2 Cor. 9:13).
